Student Contract
Student Information
Q: Who is eligible to participate in these courses?
A: Anyone who is able to pay attention. The general rule is that, while anyone can learn what is being taught here, if someone cannot pay attention then they are a detriment to other students’ ability to learn. If someone is four years old and can follow instruction, then he or she able to learn. If someone is forty and refuses to focus, then this school would not be the place for him or her.

Q: Anyone? But I have a disability! Can I still train?
A: Anyone that has any type of disability can still learn how to train in one way, shape, or form. The instructors here have worked with individuals with both physical and mental handicaps. If the student is willing to do the extra work, then the instructors are as well. It will be more difficult for these individuals, but this just makes the end result that much more rewarding! If you're still not sure, please don't hesitate to contact us to discuss your personal situation.

Q: If that is the case, then I can try it. What are the benefits of training?
A: The reasons to train are as numerous as the people who train in the arts. There are more that I can count, since everyone has their own personal reasons to train. Common reasons to train are for fitness, confidence, better focus of discipline, self defense, interest in martial arts as a hobby, etc. Whatever your reasons are to train, you are likely to find them fulfilled at Inpakuto-Ryu Martial Arts.

Q: You mentioned fitness. How much energy does this stuff really burn?
A: That will depend on a few factors. The biggest factors are whether or not you are already in shape, what classes you choose to participate in, and how much effort you exert in a class. People who are in shape will burn slightly fewer calories than those who are not, simply because their bodies are more used to the strain. The amount of exertion you put out will make a difference as well. If you come in and barely make any effort, then you will obviously burn less energy that someone who gives it everything they have. On average, however, regular training in Karate or Jujitsu burns upwards of 700 calories per hour.

Q: That sounds pretty good. So I can get in shape by taking these classes?
A: Yes, you can. Obviously, diet and lifestyle changes would help you along, but the classes themselves, assuming you show up and put out the effort, will grant you results.

Q: What about the other benefits you mentioned? Discipline, confidence, self defense and all that stuff?
A: All of this is a direct result of one of two things; the knowledge you acquire that will give you the ability to protect yourself, or the physical fitness that you acquire from participation. The logic is that it takes discipline first, just to show up. Once you have the idea of showing up and changing your lifestyle to accommodate the training program; the focus, confidence, and physical fitness will naturally follow in a natural and easy progression.

Q: You make it sounds easy. Is it really as easy as all that?
A: Well, it is simple. It is not, however, easy. The concepts, the objectives, and the goals are quite simple to identify and understand. However, it is not easy to get there. It is going to take a lot of work and dedication. While the idea and the base work are simple, obtaining your goals will be something for you to work for.

Q: All right, that makes sense. But why choose to come to you?
A: Good question! We offer an above average training program at a below average price. Add into this fact that there are no down payments, andthere are discounts for participation in multiple programs! We also look at the students as real people, and we care about them. If something happens, we will do our best to work with you and not turn you away. Life happens, shouldn’t you work with someone prepared to help you rather than hinder you? Of course!

Q: Okay, I guess now I need to know the price. What’s the damage?
A: Presently the only programs that are offered are on a private basis, although you can participate with a friend as well. When you come in for private instruction, you can expect to pay $20 (per person) for a lesson. Lessons may be taken as many or few times as you desire!

Q: Sounds expensive, though. Twenty bucks for one lesson?
A: It is actually well below normal cost. This may sound expensive, but the average going rate for private instruction in the area starts at or above $25 a lesson. Some of the larger names can run upwards of over $100 a lesson!

Q: Alright, then. But how much can I learn?
A: That will depend on the person, the person’s learning style, and the person’s schedule. Some people can only get in to train one night a week. Others are going to go for a bigger package and take more nights a week. This is totally up to the individual, but one night a week of private instruction, with the student practicing on his or her own time, should suffice for most persons.

Q: What if I decide it is not for me after getting involved?
A: This should not happen, because we first do a two hour, complementary, assessment and consultation. This is a chance for you to see what is offered, and to evaluate the instructor to see if this does fit you and your desires.

Q: Alright, I like what I see. But is this stuff really safe?
A: Martial arts are actually considered to be among the safest of all contact sports when taught by a qualified instructor or group of instructors.

Q: Sounds great! I am going to come and check it out. Is there anything I should bring?
A: Of course! If you are able to, bring a mouth guard and groin protection. This is a good idea, just in case something happens. You're also going to want to bring water. Wear loose and comfortable clothing, but make sure it is appropriate. If you are a minor, your parents must be present, at least for the initial consultation. Most importantly, bring an open mind, and be prepared to learn something new and exciting!

Q: I still have questions…
A: From this point, any further questions you have can be answered by contacting the instructor and setting up your FREE consultation.
